What is the Giraffe Manor?

Located in the heart of Nairobi, Kenya, Giraffe Manor stands as a unique blend of history, luxury, and conservation. Originally built in 1932, this remarkable establishment, now owned by The Safari Collection, underwent significant changes when it was acquired in 2009. Beyond its role as a boutique hotel, Giraffe Manor is a conservation center, playing a pivotal role in the protection and repopulation of the endangered Rothschild giraffe species.

Situated on 12 acres of private land and surrounded by 140 acres of indigenous forest, the manor boasts picturesque gardens, terraces, and courtyards. The Rothschild giraffes, the resident herd, often make their way to the windows of the hotel, providing guests with an unparalleled opportunity to interact with these gentle giants. The hotel experience extends beyond the rooms, offering "The Retreat," featuring a spa, hot tub, swimming pool, and a fully equipped gym. Daisy’s restaurant and bar, an onsite dining option, adds a touch of culinary delight to the Giraffe Manor experience.

Best time to visit Giraffe Manor

Consideration of the weather is essential when planning a visit to Giraffe Manor. Rainy seasons from March to May and mid-October to December may influence travel plans. The hotel closes for maintenance in May. While Kenya's equatorial location results in mild seasonal changes, June to August can bring cooler temperatures, given the hotel's elevation of nearly 6,000 feet above sea level.

Booking well in advance, especially during the busy periods from June to October and around Christmas and New Year, is advised. For a spontaneous visit, keep an eye out for last-minute cancellations. Additionally, familiarize yourself with Kenya's visa requirements for your country before embarking on this unforgettable adventure.
